Crowns & Bridges
A crown is a cap fitted over a damaged tooth to restore its function and appearance, usually made from porcelain. A bridge is used to replace a missing tooth and it ‘bridges’ the gap between the adjacent teeth, fusing one or more false teeth to crowns which fixed to either side of the gap. Bridges are made of porcelain and provide good eating function, look natural and are also durable and resist stains. Fixed bridges cannot be taken out of the mouth they look and feel like natural teeth. Veneers
We offer porcelain veneers to give you an improved smile in just a few visits, whether your teeth need straightening or have a compromised appearance due to a crack, damage or discolouration. Porcelain veneers are hand crafted, often wafer thin and cover the front surface of the tooth, they are used to rectify many defects and irregularities. These thin pieces of porcelain are securely bonded to the tooth, they are used to change the colour, shape and alignment of teeth. Veneers make teeth look natural and healthy.
A veneer takes at least two visits. Muscat Dental Specialist. The first is to prepare the tooth and match the shade, the second visit will be used to fit the veneer/veneers. Before bonding it in place, your dentist will show you the veneer on your tooth to ensure you are happy with it. You will be able to give feedback and express your opinions. Inlays and Onlays
Dental inlays and onlays are used to repair teeth which are decayed, fractured, cracked or worn but not sufficiently damaged enough to need a crown. A dental inlay/onlay is a restoration that is fabricated in the laboratory and is made from processed porcelain or composite. These are stronger and more durable than composite fillings. They also restore the natural colour and anatomy of the tooth and last longer. It takes two appointments for the inlay/onlay treatment to be completed and to be finally bonded to the damaged tooth.
